Fine and thinning hair has long been one of the biggest concerns raised in salons, yet innovation in the category has remained surprisingly limited. Now, a new British launch is hoping to change that.
Decibel Haircare has officially arrived in the UK this July, introducing what it describes as the world’s first professional hair volumising service. Developed by award-winning hairstylist Jonelle Sampson alongside industry veteran Michael Sampson, the brand combines science with professional haircare to focus on visibly thicker, fuller-looking hair.
At the heart of the range is Decibel’s exclusive 140dB™ Complex, a new technology designed to work within the hair fibre rather than simply coating the surface. According to the brand, the treatment helps increase the appearance of hair thickness and volume by up to 74%, while remaining lightweight, colour-safe and lasting for more than 20 washes.
Unlike many volumising products that rely on heavy polymers to create the illusion of fullness, Decibel says its approach targets the internal structure of each strand to deliver longer-lasting results. The range also aims to improve drying time, detangle the hair and provide protection, making it suitable for everyday use.
The launch includes four products:
- Hypertrophy Pro. In salon Treatment 20floz – Priced per salon
- Hypertrophy Retail Treatment 8floz – £49.00
- Thickening Shampoo 10floz – £35.00
- Thickening Conditioner 10floz – £35.00
As a hairstylist, I’m always interested in brands that bring genuine innovation to the salon rather than simply repackaging existing ideas. Clients regularly ask how to achieve fuller-looking hair, particularly as changes in texture and density become more common with age, so it’s encouraging to see brands investing in new technology specifically for this category.
Whether Decibel becomes a game-changer will ultimately come down to real-world results, but it’s certainly one of the more interesting professional hair launches to land this summer.
The Decibel Haircare range is available now.
